Increasing water and environmental security through springshed management in Bhutan
Creators
Description
Bhutan has one of the highest per capita water availabilities in the world. According to the Watershed Management Division, there are some 6,500 water sources, including 4,048 springs, that provide water for drinking, domestic, irrigation, and cultural needs. However, an estimated 35% of water resources across the country are drying up, while 2% have already dried up.
The flyer presents ICIMOD’s engagement with the Watershed Management Division and the Department of Water on springshed management in Bhutan.
