How to measure the energy used to fire clay bricks

Creators

Description

Bricks are mostly fired without specific firing energy. So, due to long firing times, there are not enough air gaps, resulting in energy consumption and poor health. Brick quality and appearance is not good due to poor soil preparation, a worn press machine and contamination from to drying on dirty ground. Relevant data on energy use in brick making has not been collected, so, there are difficulties in establishing a methodology regarding brick manufacturing. The proper brick making technology helps in reducing energy consumption, resulting in a minimization of cost. Therefore, information on brick firing is gathered to calculate energy use of the particular kiln to find the optimum efficiency. The energy used in this system is further compared to other brick manufacturing technologies worldwide.
