Migration and spread of HIV/AIDS: A view from medical geography

Creators

Description

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) was first recognised in 1981. Strictly speaking, the term AIDS refers only to the last stage of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. Within a short span of time, AIDS spread rapidly and currently affected individuals in over 168 countries on all the continents of the world. In Nepal, as elsewhere, the AIDS problem is growing. Migration is a geographical phenomena, permanent or temporary, where migrants may suffer from infections the take from their place of origin or pick up in their new destination. The movement of people helps to spread faster these diseases.
