A Summary of Migration and Sex Ratio

Description

Annotation :::: The paper draws upon gender analysis to look at migration and regional development, and analyses the impact of migration on regional sex ratio. Using the method of documental study to assess research conducted since 1990 on migration and sex ratio, the paper finds that gender analysis of migration must include the study of the sex structure of the migrant population. It should also consider the impact of migration on the sex structure of both a sending place and a destination. Migration can have a significant effect on national/regional sex structure, and result in unbalanced sex ratios in different regions and between urban and rural areas.
