A framework to identify macro-level renewable energy integration opportunities in the Hindu Kush Himalaya Region
- 1. International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)
Description
Despite its significant renewable energy (RE) potential, the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region remains trapped in very low level of RE uptake. While extant literature exploring the drivers and constraints of RE adoption follow two distinct strands of analysis pertaining to the demand and supply side factors, efforts to integrate both sides into a holistic framework for RE adoption are both new and rare. This technical note proposes a multidimensional approach of developing such a framework for identifying and leveraging RE opportunities specific to the HKH context.
