Heat adaptation: Community driven solutions in the food, energy, water nexus

This report explores the significant vulnerability of developing and least developed countries to extreme heat, attributed to their dense populations, limited resources, and lower socio-economic status.

Regions facing the greatest risk include those experiencing unprecedented heatwaves in terms of intensity or duration, and areas previously unaccustomed to such extreme temperatures. Developing and least developed countries are particularly at risk due to their higher population densities, scarce resources, and socio-economic challenges. Extreme heat poses a major threat to communities globally, severely affecting the food-water-energy nexus and public health. Utilizing local knowledge is crucial in enhancing community resilience at the grassroots level.
