Reviving Springs of the Himalayas: An Imperative for Policy Support [policy brief]

Detrimental impacts of climate change and land use change are spectacular on these natural sources. The drying or declining of spring sources have threatened livelihoods of a significant number of households, reduced economic opportunities, increased burden to women, disturbed the social fabric and increased ecological imbalances. Therefore, spring rejuvenation and springshed conservation require urgent policy interventions to minimize the impact by recharging the groundwater.
