Proceedings of the Koshi Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Hub: Building a resilient Koshi basin – India country consultation

Creators

Description

The Koshi Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Hub (KDKH) provides a platform for discussions around research, policy, and practice for improving disaster risk reduction and collaboration between upstream and downstream communities and institutions. Country consultations are important milestones in establishing an effective knowledge hub on DRR for the Koshi River basin, which is spread across parts of China, India, and Nepal. A country consultation for India was hosted by the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority in 2019. The event, organized in association with ICIMOD, Plan India, Caritas India, and Yuganter, brought together 90 stakeholders from Bihar and other parts of the country to discuss issues and challenges related to the Koshi basin and share good practices related to resilience building. The stakeholders also identified ways to improve transboundary cooperation for better access to and uptake of research for collective action.
