Description
This working paper outlines the steps for springshed monitoring and revival based on a detailed study of four springs in Charghare VDC – Ghatera Dhara, Bato Muni ko Mul, Bhalu Khola ko Kuwa, and Asine Mul – in Nepal’s mid-hills. Following a robust springshed monitoring methodology with active participation of the local community and other stakeholders, the study offers detailed technical and other management recommendations for spring revival, with an aim to recharge these springs in a sustainable way. It also focuses attention on the issue of water access and distribution conflicts and the particular challenges within the communities involved. The working paper advises coordination and collaboration amongst stakeholders at the community, local, and national levels for the conservation of springs.
