This document is an executive summary of a forthcoming feasibility study report that outlines how Nepal can build a viable and scalable biochar ecosystem by converting widely available agricultural and forest residues into a carbon-negative resource – biochar - providing the co-benefits of soil health improvement, air pollution reduction and access to premium carbon markets, among others.
This summary presents the context and insights strategic direction for Nepal’s initial pilots and pathway to scale the production and use of biochar. The forthcoming full report will provide more detailed analytical foundation, zonal evaluation, techno-economic findings, and implementation roadmap that shape these recommendations.
