Description

The ICIMOD Annual Report 2025 highlights the major environmental, social, and policy challenges facing the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH), including declining snowfall, glacier retreat, water insecurity, air pollution, biodiversity loss, and increasing climate risks. In response, ICIMOD worked with governments, research institutions, communities, and development partners to advance climate resilience and sustainable development. Key achievements included improved water resource management, gender-responsive governance, agroecological farming, renewable energy, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity conservation. The report also highlights ICIMOD’s role in strengthening regional cooperation and bringing mountain priorities into global climate and environmental agendas. Overall, it demonstrates how science, innovation, and partnerships are supporting a greener, more inclusive, and climate-resilient HKH.
