Guidelines for Developing Ecolodges in Myanmar
Creators
Description
The aim of these guidelines is to promote sustainable tourism in and around Myanmar’s protected areas, which are unique and diverse. A true ecolodge will have a low impact on its surrounding environment, as well as offer best practice in its design and operation. It will involve and educate the local community and guests, as well as provide a meaningful experience to visitors. These Guidelines should be used in the planning, design, environmental impact assessment and construction of an eco-lodge. All accommodation in protected areas is required under Article 25 of the Myanmar EIA Procedure to undertake an Environmental Impact Assessment. Under Article 26, the Ministry may determine projects outside Protected Areas should also undertake an EIA.
