Responding to floods, droughts, landslides, sedimentation, and glacial lake outburst floods in the Koshi basin requires collaboration across sectors and among policy makers, academics, practitioners, and communities. Our Koshi Basin Initiative organized a two-day country consultation for Nepal, where stakeholders from multiple sectors came together to identify issues and opportunities for upstream and downstream collaboration, and for strengthening science-policy-practice links in the Koshi basin on water-related disaster risk reduction. A core group was formed to hold further discussion with the National Planning Commission to formalize the Nepal country chapter.
