Afghanistan: Slow-onset early action plan for drought
Creators
Description
An early action plan has been monitoring Afghanistan's climate since January 2024 to evaluate drought risks. Afghanistan is highly vulnerable to climate change, with its mean annual temperature rising by 1.8°C between 1951 and 2010, nearly double the global average. Climate models predict future temperature increases in Afghanistan will significantly exceed the global average, leading to a heightened risk of drought, with annual droughts likely becoming common by 2030.
