Promoting Livelihoods through Income and Employment Generation in Chittagong Hill Tracts
In April 2008, ICIMOD initiated a project in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), Bangladesh to promote livelihoods through income generation activities facilitated by the transfer of skills and technology. The project worked with local partner organizations, ASHIKA, Eco-Development, Pajureco and Green hills to promote different Income Generation Activities (IGAs) within the hill communities. This publication represents the results of the project of three activities, mushroom cultivation, medicinal plants cultivation and beekeeping. In addition, ICIMOD conducted an assessment on community based climate vulnerability and capacity to examine the impact of environmental and climate changes on livelihoods in the Hill Tracts.
