Labour migration programs aimed at climate-vulnerable populations can offer transformative financial support, boosting household incomes and enabling adaptation. Currently, adaptation finance flows are far from adequate. Despite commitments to increase mobilisation, private adaptation finance remains very low. These targeted labour migration programs can efficiently leverage private adaptation finance. By incentivising the selection of migrant workers from communities most at risk from climate change and counting part of their remittance flows as mobilised private climate finance, significant benefits can be achieved.
