The first ever book on Nepal in the English language was published in 1811 from London. The content of the book had been drafted before 10 November 1793. This refers to An Account of the Kingdom of Nepaul by William Kirkpatrick. The book title was further qualified as 'Being the Substance of Observations made During A Mission to That Country.' The account was based on Kirkpatrick's seven weeks (13 February - 3 April 1793) visit to the then winter (Nuwakot) and summer (Kathmandu) capitals of Nepal.
