Annals of Prithvinarayan Shah in contemporary Sanskrit literature

  • Mishra, K. C.
  • Summary
Throughout history, poets and monarchs have lived by reciprocal performances. In the past, poets were always in search of a contemporary great king, reflected in the quest of Balmiki, the first poet in the beginning of his Adikavya.  Great epics of the world invariably started in praise of great heroes and in Sanskrit, the hero of an epic, by rule has to be a royal one. In Nepal these patterns of historical poetry have remained widely in vogue right up to present day.
