  • Summary
"To this day Nepal is a living myth. It is enacted throughout the year in the succession of seasonal rites and festivals. No living art supports them any longer." Stella Kramrisch, a noted authority on Nepalese art ended her book 'Art of Nepal with these words. It is a common assumption, though one the authors of this paper feel to be incorrect. It could be said that Nepal, alone among her neighbours does indeed have a living art which is the continuation of an ancient tradition.
