Gender makes a differnece in tourism for several reasons. As well as helping the tourism industry recognise itself as as a good way to engage efforts in the advancement of women, it has flexibility and can enable tourism business develop initiatives for the advancement of women. It can create awareness in many stakeholders. Women have been encouraged to get involved in many community-based initiatives. It allows women's free expression and new independence, challenging traditional roles and stereotypes in the workforce.
