The article pays due credit to ICIMOD for its role in developing the Great Himalaya Trail programme (see p22), but also places it in a wider mountain context, and highlights ICIMOD’s new Himalaya Heritage Route programme as an example of a program which links tourism with poverty reduction, sustainable development and (heritage) conservation goals.
