Environmental information for and from children describes how a series of illustrated learning packages on environmental issues developed for schools also sought to stimulate responses from the children. Annual competitions invited children to answer questions and to submit essays and drawings. Children's responses have proved not only a valuable source of information on their perceptions of environmental issues but also a valuable source of information on traditional knowledge and actions in their communities.
