000034353 520__ $$aThe acute shortage of electric power in South Asia has severely hampered regional economic growth. This paper analyzes case studies of four regional power pools around the world to arrive at five key messages for the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal sub-region. Such a cooperation in the sub-region could be the building block for a larger regional cooperation—and ultimately for regional economic integration.
