The Mountain Forestry Symposium was held in Dehradun, India, from 18 to 22 January 2015. It was jointly organized by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Forest Research Institute (FRI), and GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development (GBPIHED) under the stewardship of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of the Government of India, and with support from German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Deutsche Gesellschaft fȕr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and UK aid from the UK Government. The symposium was attended by over 300 regional and global experts from 16 countries. The aim of the symposium was to identify sustainable forest management practices and policies to address the changing conditions in the Hindu Kush Himalayas (HKH).
