Annotation:::: The paper looks at rural development, resources, and environmental economy in Yunnan province, and explores ways of constructing a new socialist countryside in spontaneous migrant communities in the province. Using the method of questionnaires to investigate and analyse the situation of spontaneous migrants, the authors find that migrant households lack knowledge about the idea of constructing of a new socialist countryside. Also, while the plan for construction of a new socialist countryside receives publicity, its actual implementation is less. The authors state that concerned local government departments must take concrete and effective measures to solve the above-mentioned problems, including a solution for household registration, establishing a basis for equal development, transferring of the workforce, and building of appropriate industries.
