Annotation:::: The paper presents a sociological perspective of labour migration, and considers the significance of and challenges related to labour migration in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Using the method of documental study to review and analyse the subject, the paper finds that labour migration has already become a trend in social development and an important measure for combating poverty in Ningxia. The practices for facilitating labour-related migration are of great importance because it has the potential to assist million people to get out of poverty and improve their living standards. Some of the problems associated with labour migration include the lack of sufficient vocational training, and lack of social security and medical insurance for migrant workers in urban areas. The authors state that such problems must be solved through the development of policies and regulations aimed at promoting effective practices for labour migration.
