The Feminist Framework for Analysing the Migration and Flow of Work Force

  • Yang, Y. Y.
  • Summary
Annotation:::: The paper provides a sociological perspective to discuss and analyse the role of women in labour migration. Using a feminist theoretical approach and methods of empirical study, the author finds that gender plays an important role in labour migration and population relocation as women take on responsibilities in mountain villages when husbands leave for employment opportunities. The role of women has long been neglected in public discourse, especially in the political elections of mountain villages. Incorporating feminist theory into analysis of migration and employment contributes to a new dialectical understanding and analytical framework. In analysing the role of women, both the residence system and gender are key factors.
