Annotation :::: Headed by Zhu Lieke, deputy governor of Shaanxi province, leading officials from the departments of agriculture, forestry and poverty alleviation came to Yanan city to conduct on-site investigation and survey of the local agricultural and rural work from 17 to 19 June 2011. Zhu stressed the combination of migration with the “grain for green” project and flexible use of related policies so as to promote poverty-reduction work. This will help realize sustainable development while consolidating the achievements of returning farmland to forestry and improving eco-environment. He said that the work of migration and relocation proves to be an effective channel for bringing mountain villagers of Baiyu out of poverty and improve their living standards. The CPC committees and governments at all levels in Yanan city must commit to smooth implementation of construction of infrastructural facilities, development of industries, and provision of public service and social security on the basis of scientific and rational planning. This can help guarantee that the relocation of people from their native land will mean a stable life for them, and the realization of coordinated development of urban and rural areas.
