  • Summary
Annotation :::: “The Adaptation to Climate Change in China” or ACCC project was mainly implemented in Ningxia, Guangdong and Inner-Mongolia from 2009 to June 2012. The investor, the International Development sector of the British Government, placed a focus on questions of how to help poor areas alleviate poverty and how to reduce the impact of climate change on such areas. According to Kong Ailin, a British woman environmentalist and coordinator and consultant of the project, Ningxia was one of the poorest regions in west China. It played an active role in coping with and adapting to climate change despite itself being a vulnerable area severely affected by climate change. In particular, the region had significant experience in ecological relocation of poor people from mountain areas and solving desertification problems, and had willingness to share its experience with other developing countries in Africa and Southeast Asia.
