Annotation :::: The paper presents a gender perspective on eco-migration, and analyses relocation willingness of eco-migrants and factors that may affect eco-migrant relocation. In the background of policies aimed at protecting the eco-environment and furthering sustainable socioeconomic development, eco-migration becomes an important measure for solving ecological problems and reducing poverty. Households prove to play a key part in eco-migration projects, and their willingness to relocate and other important factors determine the smooth progress of the project and the effectiveness of policies. Using gender analysis and the method of documental study, the paper finds that factors such as benefit-costs, non-benefit-costs, and household characteristics have affected the relocation willingness of households. The present studies do not use a unified research framework related to eco-migration and fail to take into consideration factors like risks, behaviour, and attitude of household, other people’s attitudes, and resource endowment constraints. The sex of the head of a household will also affect the relocation willingness of the household, but there are not enough empirical studies in this regard. However, eco-relocation is a significant decision for every household, which is not merely made by the head of a household. Changes in the mode of production and lifestyle greatly affect relocated women as they mostly do farm work and pay for domestic daily expenses. Finally, compared with men, women are more conservative, less capable of taking risks, and less willing to be relocated.
