The Annual Report 2012 gives a brief overview of ICIMOD’s activities over the past year, which included the development of a new strategic framework and five-year plan. The report shares the promising results from the Centre’s core programmes, including work with value chains and beekeeping, contributions to policy change related to rangelands, capacity building on glacier monitoring, and improvements to flood forecasting and early warning systems. Also included is an overview of the efforts ICIMOD has undertaken to engage and empower youth from the region to take action on regional issues, both through advocacy as well as by arming them with cutting-edge research tools. The report also covers ICIMOD’s continued advocacy for the Mountain Agenda in global processes and events, including Rio+20 where four mountain-specific paragraphs were included in the conference’s outcome document. The Centre’s audited financial report is also included in the report to ensure ICIMOD maintains transparency.
