Exposed to Global Warming

  • Stewen, M.
  • Agrawal, N. K.
  • Summary

India is expected to feel severe impacts of climate change. The country’s northeastern region, for instance, is highly vulnerable. Anticipated impacts include melting of glaciers, more floods and extended droughts. At the same time, the region’s natural resources are under enormous pressure due to population growth and rising prosperity. Germany’s KfW Development Bank has cooperated with India’s government to assess the situation with scientific methods. The goal is to tackle vulnerabilities and plan adaptation measures on the basis of solid data.
