This publication was launched at the Second Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction on June 2009 in Geneva. It is the result of extensive consultations and a response to the call for clear policy and practical guidance for mainstreaming gender perspectives into disaster risk reduction. It offers much-needed policy and practical guidelines for national and local governments to further implement the Hyogo Framework for Action.
This first version of Making Disaster Risk Reduction Gender-Sensitive Policy and Practical Guidelines will be subject to consultations for further improvement. Inputs, insight and experiences from readers, implementing partners and other stakeholders are very welcome. Please provide your feedback to: isdr-gender@un.org
