Attaining Intregrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) through environmental democracy for mountain communities

  • Tawah, E. B.
  • Summary
Mountains are important water sources for local, urban and mountain communities. Despite this fact, mountain communities in Cameroon experience acute water problems such as shortages, poor quality and water conflicts.  Due to the inaccessibility of fresh or portable water, mountain communities in this area are under increasing stress.  However, the knowledge of Integrated Water resource Management (IWRM) can help people reduce the scarcity of water.  IWRM can be achieved by promoting environmental democracy which is about governments being transparent, accountable and involving people in decisions that affects their environment.
