This study of objectives and key research themes of mountain research institutes/centres in Europe was carried out in the framework of the collaboration between the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) and the Mountain Forum (MF) 2006-2008.
The study should help in fostering synergies between efforts of European research organisations, one of the main objectives of the Mountain Partnership (MP). The results can support Sustainable Mountain Development (SMD) workshops as planned by the Institute de la Montagne (IM) and foster targeted participation in EU research programs such as the FP 7. At the same time it provides a base for enhanced interaction on SMD between interested stakeholders in Europe such as members of the European Mountain Forum (EMF) and the MP.
