The Global Renewable Energy Forum was held in May 2008 and was organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Brazilian Ministry of Mones and Energy, Electrobras and Itaipu Binacional.
The objective of the forum was to create an environment to promote the strengthening of inter-regional bonds and set up actions between countries and regions that aim to reduce poverty and embrace energy security through use of renewable energy sources.
