  • Summary
The first section of this journal addresses these questions in a straightforward way, and highlights how, despite historic separation between the two,1 attention to linking conservation and human rights has recently been increasing. This trend poses new challenges for conservation organizations, called to recognize and address some new direct and indirect responsibilities.Yet, as conservation protects resources critical to fulfill rights to life, health, food, water, and security, this trend also opens new doors for conservation organizations to be recognised as performing invaluable roles in the realization of those rights, and in overall support to human societies.
