The proposal to produce this regional report for Europe and Russia was developed by the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), in response to the CBD Notification SCBD/SEL/HM of 27 June 2002 Hiring of a consultant team for the preparation of a Composite Report on the Status and Trends Regarding the Knowledge, Innovations and Practices of Indigenous and Local Communities Embodying Traditional Lifestyles Relevant to the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biological Diversity.
This report was prepared as a 14 week desk study.
