Sustainable development, as a complex process with many interacting factors, requires the participation of all members of society, as public policy makers, producers, consumers, scientists, engineers, educators, communicators, community activists and voters.
The purpose of this publication is to present, for a general audience, basic information on some current conditions, recent trends and future projections in these areas of sustainable development.
