  • Summary
This research attempts to explore north-eastern belt of Kathmandu valley. It is an effort to demonstrate the present situation of that area and is an approach to identify evolutionary mechanism of Kalimati Formation. Primarily this report focuses on Sedimentological features of Kalimati formation, geoenvironmental problems associated with it and possible solutions. Information of climate at a nearby station was collected from DHM and analyzed to relate with other information. To identify and demonstrate flora and fauna of that region samples were collected and identified with the help of experts of respected fields. A historic review was done to analyze past incidents and situations, with present happenings, to show the trend of seriousness and other developments. Analytical techniques applied during study are discussed in the Methodology section. Man has learnt to fly in the air like a bird, and swim in the water like a fish, but he has forgotten to live like a man and living with the wrong belief, that _x001C_he is the master of nature_x001D_, hence there is no doubt that the results of his misunderstandings have created the loss of _x001C_Golden Moments. Focusing on the degradation of the Kalimati formation and its environment, the major issue is the unplanned development of urban areas and the mushrooming population, demanding more energy and assimilating more waste. Weak government policies and short term strategies are also equally responsible for this problem, including improper dumping of wastes anywhere and inefficient technological practices even in landfill sites. One burning problem related to the above statement of problem of Gokarna Landfill Site, with poor management practices resulting to various types of pollution and loss of productivity of land and spread of diseases to people living around it.
