This thesis provides an overview of the region, focusing on a village: its population, ethnicity, education, traditions and customs, religion, and political structure. Analysis is made of settlement patterns and housing. The agriculture and economy of the village is described, as well as the socio-economic development in the area: government and non government organizations, the impact of the Karakoram Highway and analysis of some of the problems faced in the village.
